You can change the type of a instance to redefine its behavior in the movie. For example, if a graphic instance contains animation that you decide you want to play independently of the main movie's Timeline, you could redefine it as a movie clip instance.
To change the type of an instance:
1 | Do one of the following: |

Select an instance on the Stage and choose Modify > Instance. |

Double-click an instance on the Stage. |
2 | Click the Definition tab. |
3 | In the Behavior area, select a different behavior. |
4 | Close the Instance Properties dialog box to apply the changes. |
